About us

Faith

Faith is the cornerstone of our church. It is part of every activity that we do, every meeting that we hold. We believe in our Lord, and that our actions are a reflection of his goodness.

Scripture

We look to the Lord for guidance in our lives. In Scripture, we find all that we need to guide us in the right path. Reading and understanding Scripture helps us all live meaningful lives.

Community

Join us. We welcome each and every one of you to encounter the Lord's unconditional love with us. Inside each of us is a purpose and meaning to be fulfilled by God.

Children & Youth Ministry

Bowie UMC supports parents and families in nurturing young children and youth as they begin their journey of faith. We help children develop a relationship with God through learning the principles of the Bible and applying bible truths to their everyday life. We teach and model for children Christ’s care for the world through our service to others, and we encourage children and youth to participate in community service projects.

What is service like at Bowie UMC?

Sunday services are at 10:00 a.m. Services are intensely passionate with prayer, singing, life-changing teaching and preaching with occasional food and fellowship directly after services.

Music is cross-genre incorporating contemporary worship, black gospel, Latino, African, Caribbean and traditional hymn worship styles. Communion is shared on first Sundays of the month. The service ends with a spirit-led invitation to join the body of believers and personal prayer for those who wish to be prayed for.

All are encouraged to stick around to meet and fellowship with the pastors and congregation.

Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Living in Christian community helps us to grow. Connected in congregational fellowship, membership expresses the commitment one has to a life in Christ. The possibilities for new friendships are endless, and there are many opportunities to serve in areas of your gifts and interest.
